Partners sign agreement to reduce office vacancy

On 27 June, partners of an action program to reduce office vacancy in The Netherlands signed an agreement. TCN is one of the parties who have been fighting against office vacancy and was therefore part of the committee that drafted the agreement.

With a vacancy rate of almost 15% of the current stock, office vacancy has become a social problem. Developers, investors, banks, users and governments each played their role in creating the problem. The package to the parties will now commit is the result of an initiative of a large number of parties, who want to take responsibility for finding structural solutions to this growing problem. The main objective of the covenant is to improve the office market by creating an office supply which is better tailored to the various user needs in terms of quality, location, building size and functionality. This is done through better spatial planning and programming and by using local or regional office funds, that will extract obsolete, vacant offices from the market.
